Used as a former base for the Venetian Fleet, the Kornati Islands are now a destination for avid sailors and adventurous scuba divers.  This stretch of the dozens upon dozens of bare island landscape atop the deep azure sea will transfix the gaze of even the most experienced water enthusiast. Croatian declared it a national park and thus amongst the 147 islands across 22 miles (36 km) lives a remarkably vibrant marine life (including an actual dolphin colony).  The islands are visible only by boat and are a must see for those whom visit the Zadar area.
