The Fish Market is housed in a Secession style building with ironworks and white stone slabs displaying the fish. It's not just a fish market, it's an attraction.
The fish market in Split is a monument, the "belly button" of Marmont's street.
At the market you will find the best the Adriatic has to offer: from the sardines and other assorted small fish to lobsters. Shells of al varieties are available as well as cultivated river fish such as trout. Of course, the earlier you go - the better your catch will be.
The city grew, so the fish market also grew outside to the courtyard, yet, it is still to small for a city of people who love the smell of grilled fish.
Also, have you notices the absence of flies? They are repelled by the smell of nearby sulfur springs!
