If you are looking to park next to the Old Town Dubrovnik, parking lots on or near to the Iza Grada street are one of your few options.
Unfortunately, during high season (July, August) these parking lots are usually all taken and it is next to impossible to find a available parking spot. If you choose to try to find one, arm yourself with patience. Iza Grada is one way street and usually has dense traffic due to Pile square being used a drop-off zone for excursions by bus.
Also note that parking on some of the streets around the Old Town are only for residents, but these are usually clearly marked.
The first parking lot is just under the cable car station. You reach it by taking the Zagrebačka street until the fire brigade and turn downhill right. The parking lot is then to your left.
Another is downhill to the right with the entrance to the left. It is a parking lot under the city walls. Iza Grada parking lots are in the parking Zone 2, which covers most of the parking lots in Dubrovnik. Zone 2 is in the general/medium price range, so parking a car for a few hours probably won't go to hard on your budget.
Write an SMS containing the registration number of the vehicle for which you want to pay for, no spaces and special characters ( example: DU091DM). Send it to the m-parking number of the zone you are in. You can also either buy a parking ticket at any nearby newspaper kiosk or parking meter. Just leave it behind the wind shield.
