Cava beach

Cava Beach is a pebble beach on Dubrovnik's Babin Kuk Peninsula, best known as the home of Coral Beach Club. The beach combines clear Adriatic water with an organised beach-club atmosphere, including seasonal sunbeds, food, drinks and music.

Cava Beach and Coral Beach Club are not quite the same thing: Cava is the beach itself, while Coral Beach Club operates the restaurant, bars, loungers and other commercial services on the beach. There is currently no entrance fee, although sunbeds, lounges, food, drinks and other premium services cost extra.

Is Cava Beach worth visiting?

Cava Beach is a good choice if you want to combine swimming with a more polished beach-club experience. It is less about finding an isolated patch of coast and more about spending several hours by the sea with food, drinks, loungers and music available nearby.

The beach has two distinct moods. Parts of the venue are quieter and suitable for relaxing, while music and the club atmosphere become more noticeable around the livelier sections. This makes Cava particularly popular with couples and groups who want more than a simple swimming beach.

If your priority is water sports, easier access or a more traditional family beach day, nearby Copacabana Beach may be the better choice.

Cava Beach and Coral Beach Club

Coral Beach Club occupies Cava Beach and provides most of the facilities visitors associate with the location. These include a restaurant, bar service, sunbeds, lounges and seasonal music.

There is currently no entrance fee to access the beach-club area. You pay only for the services you choose to use, such as reserved sunbeds, baldachins, lounges, food and drinks.

Sunbeds and cabanas can be reserved in advance, while the restaurant recommends reservations if you specifically want a table. Prices and packages change during the season, so check the official Coral Beach Club website rather than relying on old published prices.

Getting to Cava Beach

By bus from Dubrovnik Old Town

From Pile near Dubrovnik Old Town, take Libertas bus line 6 towards Babin Kuk. Line 2A can also serve the Babin Kuk area on working days.

From the upper Babin Kuk area, continue on foot towards the beaches. Cava lies close to Copacabana Beach, and signs direct pedestrians down towards Coral Beach Club and Cava Beach.

Walking from Babin Kuk

If you are staying in the Babin Kuk hotel area, Cava Beach is usually easiest to reach on foot. Follow the coastal paths towards Copacabana and look for the signed turn towards Coral Beach Club before reaching the main Copacabana beach area.

The stairs to Cava Beach

The final approach is downhill along a pedestrian path and stone steps through Mediterranean vegetation. The walk down is straightforward for most visitors, but remember that you will need to climb back up when leaving.

This makes Cava less convenient for visitors with reduced mobility, anyone using a stroller or families carrying a lot of beach equipment.

By taxi or car

A taxi is a simple alternative if you want to avoid the bus journey. Coral Beach Club also currently advertises nearby parking for guests, although availability should not be taken for granted during busy summer periods.

Most visitor facilities at Cava Beach are provided by Coral Beach Club and are seasonal. Current services include:

Is Cava Beach good for families?

Cava Beach can work well for families, despite its reputation as a beach-club destination. Coral Beach Club currently designates a quieter section with lower music levels and a comfortable water entry for children.

However, families should consider the access and overall atmosphere. The path and steps make arriving with a stroller or lots of equipment less convenient, and the club-oriented experience means that many of the comforts on offer are optional paid services.

For families primarily interested in swimming, water activities and easier access, Copacabana Beach is generally the stronger all-round choice.

Cava and Copacabana are very close to each other on Babin Kuk, but they offer noticeably different beach experiences.
