Parks and Beaches on Island Lopud
The beaches of Lopud Island may be small, but they are truly spectacular. Year after year, visitors have ranked the shallow, sandy beach of Šunj as one of the best on the Dalmatian coast.
But that's not the only beautiful sandy beach on Island Lopud - there are two smaller ones in the charming Bay of Lopud that offer an authentic island vibe. There's plenty of natural beauty to be found on this car-free, picturesque island.
Šunj Beach is one of the rare sandy beaches in the vicinity of Dubrovnik - a wide, shallow bay on car-free Lopud in the Elaphiti Islands. It’s best known for soft sand underfoot, knee-deep water that stays shallow for a long way out, and an easy island-day-trip feel just one ferry ride from Dubrovnik.
Šunj sits on the outer side of Lopud, roughly a 20-30 minute walk from the harbour and the village area (including the Lopud Bay beaches). In the main season, electric golf cart transfers usually operate as a convenient alternative if you’re travelling with kids, beach gear, or anyone who prefers to skip the walk.

Lopud Bay has two small sandy beaches directly beside Lopud village, only a few minutes from the ferry pier. They are much smaller than Šunj Beach, but more convenient if you want an easy swim, shallow water and restaurants or cafes close by without walking across the island.
The beaches are part of the waterfront of Lopud Island, one of the Elaphiti Islands northwest of Dubrovnik. They are especially useful for families, day-trippers and anyone with limited time before the return ferry.

2026 restoration: Đorđić-Mayneri Park is undergoing a major restoration and revitalisation project. Visitor access may be restricted while work is underway. Check locally before planning a visit specifically to enter the park.
