Zagreb Travel Information

Zagreb is the capital and largest city of Croatia, serving as the economic, political, and educational hub of the country. Zagreb metropolitan area population is slightly above 1.0 million inhabitants, making it one of the small capital cities in Europe. The city originally consisted of two separate towns, Kaptol and Gradec, which were united in 1851 by ban Josip Jelačić, after whom the main city square is named. Tkalčićeva Street, now known for its historic houses and bars, was once a creek.

Zagreb has become a popular tourist destination resulting in the opening of numerous hotels, hostels and interesting restaurants, as well as offering a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy.
