SplitCard is the official free visitor card from the Split Tourist Board. If you stay long enough in registered accommodation in Split, you can collect the card free of charge and use it for 72 hours for free museum admission and discounts at attractions, tours, restaurants, shops and other participating businesses.
The important part is eligibility. From April through October you need to stay in Split for at least 5 nights. From November through March, a stay of 2 nights or more is enough. If you qualify, there is little downside to getting the card because the card itself costs nothing.
Who can get the free SplitCard?
SplitCard is intended for visitors staying overnight in Split. The minimum stay depends on the season:

The accommodation type does not matter. The official Split Tourist Board states that the offer applies to visitors staying in any type of accommodation in Split.

Where to get the SplitCard
You collect the card from one of the Split Tourist Board tourist information centres:
- TIC Peristil - Peristil bb, inside the historic centre.
- TIC Riva - Obala Hrvatskog narodnog preporoda 9, on the waterfront.
- TIC Stobreč - Sv. Lovre 4, Stobreč.
If you are sightseeing around Diocletian's Palace, TIC Peristil is the most conveniently placed collection point. TIC Riva is also central and easy to reach from the waterfront, ferry port and main bus station.
The official SplitCard page does not clearly state on its public information page exactly which proof of accommodation you must present when collecting the card. If you are unsure, ask your accommodation provider or contact a Tourist Information Centre before going.
What does SplitCard include?
The strongest benefits are concentrated around Split's museums and cultural attractions. The 2026 SplitCard also includes discounts for tours, entertainment, restaurants, shops and other services, but the museum benefits are usually the easiest to plan around.

Free admission to the Ethnographic Museum is particularly useful if you are already exploring Diocletian's Palace. The museum sits beside the Peristyle and combines traditional Dalmatian collections with historic palace architecture and access to the Vestibule rooftop.

The current SplitCard programme also lists 20% discounts with participating theatres, sightseeing providers, selected tours, car rental companies and other businesses. These include the Croatian National Theatre, City Puppet Theatre, City Youth Theatre and several sightseeing operators.
10% discounts
A longer group of participating businesses offers 10% discounts, including selected excursions, boat trips, restaurants, galleries, shops and entertainment. The participating partner list can change, so check the official SplitCard page if a particular discount matters to your plans.
Is SplitCard worth getting?
If you qualify, yes, in most cases. SplitCard is free, so you do not have to calculate whether you will recover a purchase price. Using even one free museum admission or one useful attraction discount puts you ahead.
The card has the most value for visitors who want to combine Diocletian's Palace with several museums. A cultural itinerary can use several of the strongest benefits within a compact area without spending much time travelling between attractions.
It matters less if your three days are mainly devoted to beaches, island trips and activities that are not part of the programme. Even then, however, there is no financial reason to avoid collecting the card if you meet the stay requirement and expect to use at least one benefit.

It is a useful complement to SplitCard sightseeing if you want historical context before visiting museums and other palace attractions independently, with several departure times available during the day.
How to use SplitCard well in 72 hours
You do not need to race around Split trying to use every discount. Concentrate on attractions you would visit anyway.
Day 1 - Diocletian's Palace
Start around the Peristyle and explore Diocletian's Palace. Use the free admission at the Ethnographic Museum, then continue through the palace to the Palace Cellars, where SplitCard currently gives a 25% discount on admission to the ticketed substructures.
Day 2 - archaeology and sculpture
Use the 50% discount at the Archaeological Museum. If sculpture and Croatian art interest you, continue west toward the Meštrović Gallery, which currently offers SplitCard holders a 30% discount.
Day 3 - maritime history or Salona
Stay in the city and use the 50% discount at the Croatian Maritime Museum, or head outside central Split to ancient Salona and use the discount at Tusculum.
This is only one possible order. Always check current museum opening days and hours before building a 72-hour plan, particularly outside the main summer season.
SplitCard, Split City Card and Split City Pass are different
The names are confusing, but there are currently several separate visitor discount products operating in Split.

The SplitCard described on this page is the official Split Tourist Board product. Its defining features are the overnight-stay eligibility rule, free issue, 72-hour validity and the museum benefits listed by the Tourist Board.
Split City Pass is a separate paid digital discount product. Current packages start at €5 for two selected discounts and increase to €29.99 for access to all available discounts. Split City Card is another separate free discount card operated through splitcitycard.com.
Important SplitCard rules and limitations
- The card is not automatically available to every visitor. You must meet the minimum overnight-stay requirement for the season.
- Validity is 72 hours. Plan the activation period around the museums and attractions you intend to use.
- Offers can change. Participating businesses and individual discount conditions may be revised.
- Cash matters. The official programme says most partner discounts apply only to cash payments.
- Some excursion discounts have special booking conditions. A discount may apply only when purchasing directly from a specified sales point or operator.
- SplitCard is not a general admission ticket to Diocletian's Palace. Most palace streets and squares are already free to explore. The card gives a discount for the ticketed Palace Substructures.
- Do not rely on SplitCard for public transport. Public transport is not included in the current official 2026 benefit list.
Where SplitCard fits into a Split trip
SplitCard makes most sense as part of a broader cultural visit rather than as the reason to structure your entire trip around discounts. Use it alongside our guides to Split attractions and museums in Split to decide what actually interests you first.
If you have more than three days, the card can cover a concentrated sightseeing period while the rest of your stay is used for beaches, day trips from Split, island connections or slower time around the Riva and Marjan.

How long is SplitCard valid?

Can I get SplitCard if I stay three nights in summer?
No under the current rules. From April through October, the minimum stay is five nights. From November through March, two nights are enough.
Does SplitCard include Diocletian's Palace?
You do not need a ticket to walk through most of Diocletian's Palace because its streets and squares form part of Split's public historic centre. SplitCard currently gives a 25% discount on the ticketed Palace Substructures.
Does SplitCard include public transport?
Public transport is not listed among the current official SplitCard benefits. Treat city bus fares and other transport costs separately.
Is SplitCard the same as Split City Card or Split City Pass?
No. They are separate products. SplitCard is the official free Tourist Board card for eligible overnight visitors. Split City Card is a separate free commercial discount card, while Split City Pass is a paid digital voucher product.
